Eric, what an eye opener. I knew of problems, but this is so graphic. It is hard to believe that people can do these things to other humans. It was our goal to eventually go into the DRC to make similar changes, but there needs to be some serious changes. Thanks for the awareness and really looking forward to getting together soon. Beth

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the good post. You are right the West needs to find a more sutainable way and social entrepreneurship can play a leading role. Leaders such as Muhammad Yunus with his Social Business concept or Bill Gates calling it 'creative capitalism' have developed for years and more more corporations sign up to Corporate (Social) Responisbility concepts.

I think (and hope) we are just at the beginning of this. The right education, foremost the ability to think critically, creatively and broadly understanding complex systems, is key.

You have an absolute though leader (and Ashoka fellow) in your home country! URDT (www.urdt.net) is an amazing organization which I visited recently. They are even about to open up the African Rural University this year.

I have blogged about both, Social Entrepreneurship and Education in Mali/Africa on my blog www.business4good.org.

Best
Juergen
